It has been said that this grape has one of the hardest transformation processes which may deter many people as it takes a lot more time to successful grow this grape but it makes some of the finest wines of our time.
Pinot noir has been known to be used in the production of Champagne along with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier so has many purposes making it a popular grape if it can be grown successfully. Although this grape produces sparkling or still red wines there is evidence that it can be used in the creation of certain rose wines.
